my father’s son

It was already 12 noon and I was supposed ho have left the Emergency Room at 10:30. On any other day, it would have just been fine, but today is not just another day. I had a lot of things planned for the rest of the afternoon, but before I could deal with it, there was just one more thing I needed to do first.

I have to pay him a visit.

In the blistering midday sun I came to pay him a visit, to see him. It seemed someone new was going to be in the neighborhood based on the preparations being done on the place. I paid them no attention and went to see him. I was never did good with small talk whenever it was just the two of us, so I just reiterated my promise to him that I’ll take care of mom and my little brother and sister, no matter what. Then I gave myself a moment of silence before offering a him prayer just before I left.

I know I never really told you while you were still with us, but the truth be told, I loved you. We loved you, we still do. And nothing will ever change that.

Happy Fathers’ Day Dad.

(dedicated to my father Alejandrino 1950-2007)

"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you." ~ Ray Bradbury. I tend to agree with Mr. Bradbury, although my writings steer clear from dystopia, I am a fan of Batman and the young Bruce Wayne … throughout this blog (if you stay long enough) you’ll come to understand what this mortal thinks of the world around her ... maybe you'll even agree.
